We finished out the tour, which was super fun. Thanks to everyone, new friends and old, who helped make it possible. Your floor and couchspace was much appreciated. NYC especially was awesome - between our taping for Fearless Music (which will be airing in the Fall) and a great draw at Arlene's Grocery, it was one of the highlights of the tour. There are too many stories to tell and most of them should not ever see the light of day. Suffice it to say that the tour was a great experience across the board. As fun as the tour was though, it was overshadowed by our recent CD Release Party at The Vinyl which was AH-MAAAAAA-ZING. Despite some major setbacks (Ski Club and Sealions both cancelled last minute, which saddened us since we were looking forward to playing with them), that show was one of the most fun and successful in the band's history thanks to the support of our loyal Atlanta peeps. It was great getting to see everyone again after being gone on tour and encouraging to see the club packed wall-to-wall with people ready to party down with us. Mucho props to The Judies also for stepping up last minute to give a kick-ass opening performance. Anyway, that was a night to remember. 08/18/08 - NORTHWARD BOUND As expected, every one of the three shows we've played so far have been tight as hell. The bands have been great, the venues have been fun, and the crowds have been amazing. Columbus was a great place to kick things off...we always love hanging with Vicki and the SoHo gang. In Columbus, we met up with the Shallow Palace guys, who were all incredibly cool and the boys from Cats and Cobras, who we've had the distinct pleasure of playing with before (man, they're good!). It was a sick turnout at Headliners and we thank all of you in Columbia for continuously making it one of our favorite cities to play. We like to think of it as our second hometown. Last night was a pretty sweet Sunday show - we played with two fun bands in Charleston and were contemplating a not-so-fun-night of sleeping in the van or outside on the ground on what was a sweltering August night when we got an 11th hour offer from a fan to crash at her place. Mucho gracias to "Clutch". Time to sign off for now...I've got a BBQ sandwich waiting for me. Get ready Northerners. We're gunning for you. 08/15/08 - IT HAS BEGUN!! Well, the time has arrived. We are officially on tour right now. In fact, we're doing one last circle of Atlanta, making our way round town on our way to our first stop, Columbus. I'm not going to sit here and talk about what each one of us is doing right now...I think it borders on pretentious when bands do that and I normally stop reading (and caring) pretty quickly. It's enough to just say that we're on the road and psyched about every single show on our schedule (and the fact that we don't have to work day jobs for the next two weeks). Thanks to the guys at Project 96.1 (especially Knox and Will) for having us in this morning for a couple of radio spots that are going to be aired the week prior to our CD release at the Vinyl. Listen in...they'll be playing one song of ours each night leading up to the party on Sept 6th. Much more to come later. 06/23/08 - THE SPLEEN-LESS ONE Poor Lynch. Poor silly Lynch. As many of you may or may not have already heard, our daredevil drummer met with an unfortunate accident on Friday evening while out promoting for the Tabernacle show that was on Saturday. Long story short, after tumbling down a 30 foot bridge embankment, Lynch came away with a split eyebrow, a scraped up elbow, a torn pair of jeans...and a ruptured spleen. We're happy to report that Lynch, although he is now spleen-less, is recovering well at the hospital and should be up and walking around relatively soon. Unfortunately, we're expecting the recovery process to require Matt to take it pretty easy for the next couple of weeks, so it doesn't look like he'll be on the skins anytime soon. As interesting as playing an acoustic set was, we're not super anxious to play a lot of shows that way, so we're currently in discussions about what route to take with our upcoming shows. In any case, we'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again to those that made it out on Saturday for what turned into a "Matt Lynch Tribute" set and also thanks to 99x and the other bands for their understanding and sympathies! 04/26/08 - TRANSPORTATION STATION Just thought we'd brag about the sick-ass 15 passenger van we just scored. The transportation is taken care of and the shows are getting locked in for our tour in August. Check our showdates to see when we'll be passing through your neck of the woods and then start spreading the word around. Oh!...the EP's still coming along, but to help tide you over till then, we're going to be marching round the ATL 'hoods, handing out a free 4-song sampler of In Flagrante Delicto. If you want to help us distribute, either in Atlanta or wherever you live, hit us up and we'll make it worth your while. 04/15/08 - GETTIN’ IT DONE....ON PANDORA Time to crank www.pandora.com up even louder at work (or whenever you listen to it)...cause as of this weekend, our first album, In Flagrante Delicto, is now on there. Just navigate to the Pandora website, login, and create a new station from either us, "The Drownout", or your favorite Drownout song from that album. Then try not to piss yourself with glee. Oh and yes, we know our photos are out-of-date and don't even have two of the current band members in them. We're in the process of getting some new press photos taken in conjunction with the release of the new EP (slated for release sometime in late August, early September). We should also have some new t-shirt designs available by then as well. We'll keep you posted. 07/07/07 - THE DROWNOUT WINS 99X LAST BAND STANDING Thanks to everyone who came out or voted for us at the 99x Last Band Standing competition Saturday @ Center Stage. We won and will be playing the 99x Atlantis Music Showcase slot in front of label reps and many other people in the industry. There were a lot of good bands at the show and we were really just glad to be a part of it. So on the road we go in a few weeks...will write again soon. 06/01/07 - THE DROWNOUT IN YOUR CITY THIS SUMMER We'll be coming up the East Coast this summer from July 27th - August 4th.
